5 Must-See Films (2023, FILMFRAG Awards)

Based on the completely objective (no cap) FILMFRAG Awards, we can honestly recommend these 5 films we enjoyed last year. Yes, there is Barbie and Oppenheimer, but a few weeks after the cinema, it is fair to admit that they were really good movies, right?

1. The Covenant

An underrated movie where Jake Gyllenhaal excels. In war, we need local translators, without whom we cannot find our way in the local country. The story describes a sincere human relationship that can respect basic human values even in war.

2. No Hard Feelings

Jennifer Lawrence is playful again. We love it and so do you. This time she faces the potential loss of childhood home. She comes across a tempting job offer: wealthy, anxious parents are looking for someone to “straighten out” their 19yo son, Percy, before he starts college.

3. Barbie

I’m just Ken, anywhere else I’d be a ten. Is it my destiny to live and die a life of blonde fragility? Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie represent today’s Hollywood as it is. Maybe we prefer the one from the past, but in the current one, it’s a laugh-out-loud film you shouldn’t miss.

4. Oppenheimer

It’s Nolan, it’s Cillian. But also Robert Downey, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. The story describes an important figure, Robert Oppenheimer, the inventor of the atomic bomb. The biography of a sensitive person who had to deliver an insensitive task.

5. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

Tom Cruise delivers again. What you would expect is what you get. This time we also get an interesting plot. Just like in the previous parts of the series, you can enjoy super locations and great stunts.
